NYC protester, NYPD officer suffer minor injuries after BMW driver crashes into crowd

A man behind the wheel of a BMW drove through a protest in Greenwich Village on Wednesday night, injuring one of the protesters and an NYPD officer, police and sources said. .

Sources said the chaos took place outside of the NYPD’s 6th Sector, where about 25 people gathered to demand the shooting of a sergeant working in the command post.

At around 10:30 p.m., the BMW driver pulled over and honked at protesters, who were blocking the road on West 10th Street near Bleecker Street, sources said.

Protesters overran the vehicle – and police responded to these actions – before the driver stepped on the gas and plowed into the crowd, sources said.

One protester and police officer were hit by bullets and suffered minor injuries, police and sources said.

Officers gave chase and stopped the driver a few blocks away on Grove Street, the NYPD said.

The driver was arrested for leaving the scene of the crash and recklessly causing danger, police said.
