After winning Wimbledon, Djokovic set himself at “50-50” when competing at the Olympics, citing a lack of spectators as well as the strict restrictions of Covid-19.
Nadal and Federer are part of a growing list of players who have chosen not to compete at this year’s Olympics. Those who did not visit Tokyo also included Serena Williams, Sofia Kenin, Dominic Thiem, Simona Halep, Nick Kyrgios, Bianca Andreescu, Denis Shapovalov, Victoria Azarenka, Angelique Kerber and Vasek Pospisil.
The Olympics are scheduled to start on July 23. The US Open is scheduled to be held from August 30 to September 12 in New York.
