No Way Home ‘to a’ Avengers ‘Movie

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow in size and scope, more and more of the franchise’s projects will be likened to an Avengers movie. It comes with territory as things continue to get bigger, and that’s a direct or indirect comparison made with a bunch of Phase Four titles.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Marvels and Thor: Love and Thunder have all been described at various points in scale as ‘Avengers-esque’, but we’ve now heard directly from Tom Holland that it applies to this week’s multiverse epic Spider-Man: There’s no way home.

Given that the film has somewhere between one and three Peter Parkers, a lone Sorcerer Supreme, and at least five villains spanning two series in the days gone by, No Way Home will never be anything more than massive. In an interview with Project, Holland teased how loud we’re talking.

“It totally works [feel bigger than past Spider-Man movies]. In some respects it feels the same, we’re back in Atlanta with the same cast and crew. And then, in other respects, it’s like a completely different franchise. We’ve put these villains back in these roles, the action sequences are much bigger, the comedic is much more emotional, the stakes are much higher too. So it really feels like we’ve made this almost like a Avengers movie.”

That’s no surprise when Spider-Man: There’s no way home arguably the most hyped blockbuster since Avengers: Endgame, and in terms of sheer spectacle and nothing else, director Jon Watts will be looking to give Earth’s Mightiest Heroes a run for their money.
