No dangerous goods spilled when the Grande Prairie derailed: RCMP – Edmonton

The RCMP said no dangerous goods were spilled when the train derailed in Grande Prairie, Alta., Friday morning.

The derailment happened around 7:15 a.m. at the railroad crossing on 68th Avenue between Resource Road and 92nd Street.

Both east and westbound lanes of 68th Avenue were closed due to the train derailment, but reopened at around 9:30 a.m.

The RCMP could not say how many carriages were off the tracks or what the train was carrying at the time. However, officers said no dangerous goods were spilled and no injuries were reported.

RCMP officers, city enforcement and members from CN Rail were on the scene Friday morning.

CN Rail did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the derailment.
