Developer Inflexion is delaying Nightingale’s early access, citing the need to update and refine the survival-crafting game’s engine.
nightingale was originally announced at The Game Awards in 2021 for a late 2022 release in Early Access before a full release at a later date. But in a statement released by the game’s developer, Inflexion Games, on Aug. 11 on Twitter, this was confirmed nightingale will not be released at all in 2022. It cited several reasons for the delay, but one of the biggest was a desire to move the game to a new engine before release, rather than wait with a later upgrade.
nightingale is a shared world survival crafting game being developed by some ex-Bioware developers who previously worked on popular franchises like The dragon time Series. This new game will feature a multi-realm fantasy setting, with portals being the gates between different realms within it nightingale, such as swamps, deserts and jungles. The game focuses more on crafting and exploring creation, but players don’t have to do it alone; nightingale can also be played in co-op. However, adventures through these realms will have to wait. nightingale was postponed to the first half of 2023.
According to the tweet posted by the developers, the decision was made to delay early access to 2023 in order to move the project to Unreal Engine 5, and also for general polish and to improve the overall gaming experience. That makes Nightingale, the first game developed by Inflexion, one of several postponed from 2022 to 2023.
As Inflexion Games noted in its tweet, a major reason for this delay was the developer’s desire to move the game to Unreal Engine 5, rather than waiting for release and for players to play it and then deciding to do that update game later. Many fan-made projects have shown what the Unreal Engine 5 is capable of, and there are several games in development that have been confirmed to use the Unreal Engine 5, like the next entry in the Grave robbers Franchise. So the desire to move the game to the engine before release makes sense. More time to improve the game and make it as good as possible before people play it is also pretty common in early access when it comes to game lag.
As frustrating as delays can be for some players, especially with a development team with a relatively solid track record, delays usually result in a better product and experience for players. While this news may come as a disappointment to many people, particularly BioWare fans, the developers at Inflexion Games clearly want their first project to be one to remember.
nightingale will be released in Early Access for PC in the first half of 2023.
