Hurts is doubtful as to whether he’s the franchise’s quarterback, but he continues to improve his play every week – and Eagles offense is improving as a result. Philadelphia is averaging 208.7 yards on the ground in the last three games, limiting the passing effort of Hurts – who has become a more efficient passer in the process.
Protection franchise? The stats – and Hurts’ playstyle – decide that.
“Look at the last three games and that’s the biggest one right there, isn’t it,” Sirianni said Monday. “He’s still in rookie season and – basically, if you count the number of games starting. And so all I see is an improvement every day from him because, once Also, it starts with the type of person that Jalen [Hurts] and how much he loves the sport and how much he loves his teammates and how tough he is. And he doesn’t make the same mistake twice.
“I just saw his arrows completely pointing upwards. I think we’ve all seen the way he plays. The way he played yesterday, again, when we went into the second half, we were there. I understood that a little bit, and we played a little bit differently from our defense and our lead.”

Hurts has completed 66.7% of his passes for 443 yards with three touchdowns down to an intercept (rated 102.6) in his last three starts, while also dashing to 31 times in 186 meters. In his first eight games, Hurts completed 61.3% of his passes at an 89.3 passer rate, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt. The last two games? Hurts completed 67.5% of his passes with a tally of 108.3, averaging 8.5 yards per attempt.
Hurts even eliminated bad pitches from his rookie season. On-target throws (possibly hitting intended recipients) from Hurts improved from 60.7% to 70.1% while bad throws (poor throws per attempt) decreased from 26.7% to 13, 3%.
The improvements from the Hurts are remarkable.
“I just saw him improve over and over. I just saw him improve in every aspect of his game,” Sirianni said. “My job here and Jalen’s job is not to focus on the future franchise quarterback… I think that’s Jalen’s mindset, that’s my mindset, that’s how we’re going to be. Keep getting better every week and the rest will take care of itself.”
