NFL Week 13 Final Injury Report: Vikings’ Dalvin Cook Out vs. Lions; Mike Glennon to start for Daniel Jones

We’re entering Week 13 of the 2021 NFL season, and injuries are once again a factor in some of the big games next weekend. This week’s story is back to back (and game running) injuries, with several backyard players expected to miss out. But we are also likely to have some stars back on the pitch, including an MVP candidate midfielder.
As teams submit their final injury reports for the week, let this be central so you know who’s in, who’s out and whose condition can still be maintained before the game even starts. Below you’ll find every injury report and breakdown of what it all means for Week 12.
Whitehead’s absence is one of the big potentials against the Falcons’ tight finish Kyle Pitts, especially if White can’t play either. However, White trained fully on both Thursday and Friday, a good sign for his availability. Marpet also fully trains on Friday, while Dean attends the full week.
Atlanta okay Deion Jones and Kendall Sheffield back for this game, which is good because the Falcons need all the help so they can fend off the Tampa Bay explosive attack.
Murray is likely to return to the field this Sunday, as he is suspected after participating in limited training all week with an ankle injury. Hopkins’ condition appears to be increasing, as he participated in limited training on Wednesday and Thursday with a hamstring injury, but was sidelined on Friday.
While the Bears had a long week, that didn’t help them in the injury department. There are some big names that will not be on the pitch this Sunday. Robinson is suspected of being huge for the offense, and while Fields is also listed as a suspect, head coach Matt Nagy has said that Andy Dalton will start in his place, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Smith will be a match to decide the time, and he is the one limited to training on Friday with a hamstring injury.
- Colts: DT DeForest Buckner (knee/foot), TE Jack Doyle (knee), S Andrew Sendejo (calf) HAVE QUESTIONS
- Texans: WR Danny Amendola (knee), DB Terrence Brooks (hamstring), CV Justin McCray (concussion), DL DeMarcus Walker (hamstring) RA; WR Chris Conley (illness), WR Brandin Cooks (illness), RB David Johnson (disease / thigh), CV Cole Toner (illness), DL Jonathan Greenard (foot), DL Roy Lopez (illness) HAS QUESTIONS
The Colts’ final injury report is indeed good news. While they have three players listed as problematic in Buckner, Doyle and Sendejo, all three participated in full training on Friday.
The Texans might be deeply offended, as the Cooks and Johnson are very questionable to play. They are two of five Houston players who have had problems playing due to illness.
The Vikings have a few major absences here, with Cook and Darrisaw likely to thwart the offense a bit. Alexander Mattison Filled in pretty well for Cook as he had to miss time and he’ll do well in a solid game here, but the squad could suffer without a tackle on the left. Kendricks and Barr will also be major absentees, despite the possibility of D’Andre Swift for Detroit would make them less susceptible to damage.
Detroit may have a good chance of winning Sunday’s first with some of the injuries that Minnesota has, but the Lions have injury problems of their own. Swift has been ruled out with a shoulder injury, as has starting midfielder Jalen Reeves-Maybin. There are several questions on the attack as well as Nelson and Sewell are suspected to play. Both are restricted from participating in the practice on Friday.
Mike Glennon will start in place of Jones, and he will work with a skeleton-positioned skill-weapon group. Jackson gets hurt going up against the Dolphins, as he’s the most likely in the Giants corners to get up to speed Jaylen Waddle.
Miami has a few notable defenders, who are listed in question as Jones and Phillips. Both were restricted from participating in a full-week practice.
The Eagles wanted Scott in the backyard to start this week, but the real plot is Hurts, who has problems with an ankle injury. He’s been in limited training all week, which is good news, but we don’t know if he’ll feel good enough on Sunday to compete.
Rankins and Wesco were suspicious of the Jets, and both didn’t practice all week. Every player listed as problematic for New York trained as a full participant on Friday, with the exception of Davis, who was limited.
The Chargers are relatively healthy going into this game, but Brandon Staley will want his rookie full-back, Samuel Jr., available. He will miss his second game in a row due to a concussion.
Cincinnati may miss a few starts in attack, as Hopkins and Reiff have playing problems. Both have not practiced this whole week.
Collins’ absence is somewhat less damaging to the Raiders with Darren Waller is likely to miss the game, but the Football Team may miss him in an attempt to stop the run. McKissic out can be set Antonio Gibson for his biggest workload of the season, though coach Ron Rivera hinted that Wendell Smallwood could play a McKissic-esque role on Sunday. Washington’s line of attack was pretty late, so it’s worth keeping an eye on Hoa and Larsen’s wounds.
Waller’s suit doesn’t look good as he hasn’t trained all week due to back and knee injuries. Look out for Jackson being nimble, as he worked out and left practice this week with a calf injury. He has problems playing, along with Jacobs, who had training restricted on Thursday and Friday because of an ankle injury.
The Jaguars will be without Griffin for another game, as he is still dealing with his concussion. Crime can also be flawed, as Robinson is dealing with a leg injury. He’s the kind of guy who doesn’t practice all week.
Beckham Jr is facing a hip injury and has performance problems. Even if he does dress appropriately, one has to wonder how effective he will be. Henderson is suspected of playing because of a thigh injury. Interesting Matthew Stafford not listed in the injury report. He is said to be dealing with a number of different injuries, and it’s not like he’s resisting Packers Last Sunday.
- 49ers: LB Dre Greenlaw (groin), WR Deebo Samuel (groin), RB Trey Sermon (ankle), DL Maurice Hurst (calf) RA; LB Fred Warner (hamstring) DOUBLE; LB Marcell Harris (concussion) MAY QUESTION
- Seahawks: OG Damien Lewis (elbow / NIR) DOUBTFUL; RB Alex Collins (abdomen), RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring), RB Travis Homer (calf) QUESTIONABLE
The 49ers will be without Samuel after he suffered a groin injury last week, but it will likely be the only game he misses. It looks like San Francisco’s defensive star at Warner is also in danger of missing out on the competition, as he hasn’t trained all week due to a hamstring injury. He is officially listed as suspicious.
It should come as no surprise that the Seahawks are around the active market, as three of their four returnees on the active roster are listed as questionable for Sunday. Collins was a limited participant in the Friday practice while Penny and Homer were full participants. No Lewis on the offensive front would also hurt. He was put on the suspect list after missing the last two training sessions of the week.
- Ravens: OT Cedric Ogbuehi (thigh) RA; WR Miles Boykin (finger) DOUBLE; CB Anthony Averett (shoulder/ankle), TE Nick Boyle (knee), CV Patrick Mekari (ankle), LB Patrick Queen (rib), FB Patrick Ricard (leg/thigh), CB Jimmy Smith (neck), CB Chris Westry (thigh), CB Tavon Young (illness), LB Jaylon Ferguson (illness), CB Marlon Humphrey (illness), LB Odafe Oweh (shoulder) HAVE QUESTIONS
- Steelworker: CB Joe Haden (foot), DE Isaiah Buggs (ankle) OUT
Not really a good place to start when it comes to Ravens injury reporting. There are a total of 13 players assigned to the game and 11 with problems. Out of 11 questions, eight are on the defensive side of the ball. It wasn’t all the bumps and bruises, as an illness seemed to be raging in the dressing room. Young, Ferguson and Humphrey all have performance issues due to non-COVID illnesses and did not train on Friday.
Pittsburgh wants Haden for this important AFC North game, but he will miss another game because of a leg injury. Ben Roethlisberger (right shoulder / chest) and Chase Claypool (toe) were also listed on the injury report, but they were fully involved on both Thursday and Friday and had no competition designation.
Looks like it could be Javonte Williams in this week’s edition of “Sunday Night Football,” as Gordon is suspected of playing with several different injuries. Williams will need some backstop, however, he has some key players in Risner, Bolles and Massie who can play.
Edwards-Helaire is expected to compete due to illness. Looks like he’s fine until Friday, when he’s out training.
Injury report will come.
