Valve’s Steam Deck, the Playdate handheld indie console, as well as Sony’s PS5 are all experiencing shortages as global chip shortages continue. Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker was recently delayed relatively short, instead of releasing at the end of this holiday instead of late November. Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy’s Controversial Release
Less than a week after the launch of the collection, Rockstar Games launches Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The final version has quickly become one of the Worst rated game on Metacritic. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy marred by technical issues, polarizing graphic changes, and disappointment with what many on Metacritic have described as a bad remake. Many fans are demanding refunds from Rockstar Games due to numerous issues with all three games.
Grove Street Games has since promised updates and patches, though the damage may have been done. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy removed from PC due to issues with “unintentional files”, apparently related to unlicensed music. The game has since been re-listed on the Rockstar Launcher on PC, but it’s unclear when fixes might be made to the remastered collection.
Hardware delay affects valve, PlayStation and Playdate
Thanks to the global chip shortage affecting various industries worldwide, the games industry continues to feel the sting as strongly as other sectors of the global economy. Three major hardware releases are experiencing console production delays due to chip shortages: Valve’s initial production round for Steam Deck has been delayed from holiday 2021 to February 2022 For early adopters, will further pre-orders be delayed to Q2 2022 and beyond.
Sony has also adjusted its production targets amid chip shortages, reduced PS5 production target from 16 million to 15 million at the end of the financial year. Additionally, Playdate, the handheld indie console, has also been delayed to early 2022. Once again, Playdate cites chip shortages as a major factor leading to production discontinuations.
Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker Delayed to December
Just before the original launch date, Square Enix and Final Fantasy 14 The team announced the Endwalker expansion has been delayed to December. Instead of November 23rd. Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will now be released on December 3, with patch 6.01 released on December 21. Fan feedback to Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker mostly positive In response to an emotional announcement from producer Naoki Yoshida, showing respect for the team’s efforts.
Few Metal gears The game was recently removed from digital stores due to issues with the use of copyrighted historical footage. According to Konami, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 has been temporarily delisted to resolve the license renewal of some undisclosed footage used throughout the game. Varying from the console storefront to the PC, Konami can’t give an exact timeframe for when these games will return to the digital storefront at this time.
