New York Mets shore up rotation by adding Rich Hill

Rich Hill has been one of the great baseball stories of the last few years. With four surprisingly dominant games in 2015, he became an important part of the starting lineup, sometimes the middle of the dominant turn. However, Hill missed out on the final award and despite winning two to Fall Classic did not win the world series.

Hill could get a third chance. In a surprising move, Rays Hill New York Mets in exchange for relief Tommy Hunter and a minor league support Matt Dyer.

The New York Mets with Rich Hill add depth to the turnaround

This is a trade that the Mets must complete. With Jacob deGrom in the list of victims, their circulation is thin at this point. Even with Carlos Carrasco starting his journey to the majors, the Mets need more quality weapons for the initial turn.

Hill may not be the force he was before, but he still has a strong arm. He averaged 3.87 ERA and 1,164 WHiP in his 95.1 innings, beating 91 fights with 36 tackles. By moving to NL East, he should be able to improve those numbers and help the Mets look to reach next season.

However, there is cause for concern. While Hill dominated for the long haul, he struggled during his last seven starts, placing in a 5.40 ERA and 1,500 WHiP in his last 33.1 innings. While he hit 28 fighters, Hill also gave up 16 hits and seven homers just twice during the sixth.

Despite these concerns, Hill is a worthwhile gamble for the Mets. Their rotation at this point consists of Marcus Stroman, Taijaun Walker and hope the bullp will win. Hill may not be the pitcher he was during his impressive season at the start of the season, but he needs to be strong enough to help the Mets ’pitching staff.

The New York Mets needed help in their turn. They made their first move to improve the pitching team by adding Rich Hill.
