New World has always had a bot problem that Amazon has been working on for a while, and one player shared an innovative method for messing with the bot’s AI.
There are several factors that have created New worldIts launch was fantastic and also problematic, with concurrent player numbers skyrocketing over 900,000 on the Steam leaderboards and design issues hampering the experience for many. New world currently still out of the woods and its player base has dropped significantly from a golden week or two after launch, but the game is doing better thanks to Amazon Game Studios listening to player feedback and try to improve the areas that need it most. Fixing a game is not an easy task when there are many problems of a diverse nature and New world Being an MMO things can only get more complicated.
One thing the game has struggled with for so long is that there’s often a swarm of bots running rampant, gathering resources, and blowing up the market to earn Gold easily. Of course, this goes against Amazon policy, and Thousands New world bots have been banned from the game in the three months since launch. Some still do, however, and it’s not uncommon for players to find creative ways to disrupt their route.
A Reddit user named BirthdayDiligent5328 shared a video showcasing a great system to stop bots from running rampant and chopping down hundreds of trees. This includes placing a Level 5 camp right in the middle of the route, which then becomes an impenetrable obstacle to AI commonly used by bots – a camp usually placed to achieve some basic quests when looping. again. The New world robot caught in the video simply cannot jump over the camp nor effectively retrace his steps.
The result is that the bot keeps running in circles trying to find a way back to its original route, which doesn’t happen because camps don’t naturally drop after a certain amount of time. In fact New world player returned to camp a few hours later and found the bot still trying to get around the camp to go back and cut down trees. While this isn’t a permanent solution like the bans put in place by Amazon, it does help.
Fishing bots are also very popular in New world, even more so because fish are usually rarer than other materials and bots have to take fewer actions. Unfortunately, there’s no way to stop them from doing so, but players can still report them in-game and hope for quick action on Amazon’s part.
