With over 700,000 players on launch day and an all-time high of 913,027 players on Steam, New world considered the most promising MMO to come out in quite a while, especially considering how quickly Amazon Game Studios has resolved the server issues. Common psychology between New world next player November patch that is Amazon decided to secretly change the core mechanics and apply multiple nerfs to make the processing take longer in order to keep players longer. A Reddit user named Shuckle-Man shared a post highlighting Amazon’s reasoning behind the nerfing of elemental creatures’ Motes, a valuable resource. New world Players prefer to receive from enemies rather than plants or stones due to combat.
Players are angry at Amazon for prioritizing changes to things that aren’t really harmful to the game over long-standing complaints like New world‘s crafting system, or even shutting down trading posts on all servers in Europe. Some elemental creatures have given out a large amount of Motes compared to the original plant and stone sources, but removing them completely (along with Wyrdwood from the wolves) is a bad change.
New world solo player were also punished in the big November update, but no changes were made to improve their experience. All in all, things are looking a bit bleak for Amazon’s MMO, but the developer can still gain some ground by making changes for the better in the near future.
