New World developer blog details on upcoming additions, server migration

Amazon Game Studios has been quite silent about the news related to New world so far in 2022, but that changed today when a 50-minute developer blog was shared to the game’s official YouTube channel.

In this talk with the game’s team, details from the January update were shared, along with February PTR plans, server transfers, and more. First, the January update for New World of The live game is set to showcase Expedition’s Modifiers called Mutators. The Mutant is the latest addition to the game content that ends in New world that will make the expeditions more difficult and give greater rewards to the player.

With this system, variable tuning spheres will be provided. These will give the player the ability to open any expedition with this type of orb. This means players can navigate the map faster to take advantage of the new Mutators and six new shrines that have been added to the game. Rapid travel costs have also been reduced.

Expertise, final change to New World of endgame, has also been increased. Players can now upgrade their Expertise up to 625, up from the previous limit of 600.

PTR will not change too much in February. According to the team, the February update will focus on bug fixes and won’t include any new content.

Server count has been an issue since day one of the game, and the team is still planning to address the issue further. More merges will be included in the game in the future and with them a second transfer token will be distributed to all players. Currently, there is no date for this to take place.

Aside from these upcoming changes, most of the new additions in the coming months will be fixing bugs and issues that plagued the game. You can view the entire blog here.
