New Peacemaker Featurette provides the first proper look at vigilance
Just over a month to go People of Peace Come on HBO Max, promotions for the series are increasing rapidly. Director James Gunn has shared a new clip that offers a look at some of the new footage from the series, behind-the-scenes fun, and a proper first look at Peacemaker’s new “BFF,” Adrian Chase , aka Vigilante.
It has been confirmed that Freddie Stroma will play the role of Vigilante in HBO Max series People of Peace and even appeared in the official trailer. However, the new feature offers insight into the kind of relationship he and Peacemaker will share in the series. It seems obvious that John Cena’s Peacemaker wouldn’t be very pleased with Vigilante’s antics, but somehow he seemed amused.
In DC Comics, Vigilante is an anti-hero who fights crime, not superheroes. However, there have been a number of characters that have donned the cloak of Vigilante, with Chase being just one of them. He looks like a comic book character, with a dark outfit and helmet mask. He may seem like a milder, more quirky version of the comic book character, but this is probably his moment before he becomes mentally unstable.
As part of the movie, Cena, Stroma and Gunn reveal that Vigilante basically respects Peacemaker and considers him as her best friend. There are some hilarious clips of the two characters interacting in the eight-episode series, and they create the perfect bond between the two brothers. It seems that the two of them have in common “doing cruel things in the name of justice”.
All eight episode of People of Peace written by Gunn, and he’ll be directing some of them as well. Other directors joining the list include Brad Anderson, Jody Hill and Rosemary Rodriguez. In addition to Cena and Stroma, the cast includes Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.
People of Peace all set to be the first TV series connected to the DC Extended Universe. The show, which is a spin-off of Gunn’s Suicide Squad released earlier this year, will follow the story of Cena’s popular character and the missteps he works with to achieve his goals. Similar to Suicide Squad, People of Peace will maintain a quirky and funny tone, based on the trailers that have been released so far.
People of Peace is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on January 13, 2022.
