New iPhone App Lets Users Test PS5 DualSense Controller Triggers

Although it may be hard to believe for some people, but PS5 was released over a year ago. As Sony’s next-generation console, it features significantly improved hardware compared to the previous generation PS4. Are from Faster load times with SSD down to ray tracing, there’s no shortage of new features included in the PS5. In addition to bringing many improvements to the hardware of the console, Sony has introduced a new controller called DualSense.
Included with the PS5, the DualSense controller enhances the gamepad for PlayStation gamers while remaining similar to Classic DualShock design. In addition to the new black and white interface, it also includes some new features, such as adaptive triggers. This new innovation seems to offer a richer fan experience. Unfortunately, gamers never got a chance to test the full capabilities of this feature of the next-gen controller, until now.
Recently a new app has been released that looks like PS5 fans have more control over the settings of their DualSense controller. Called PS5 Controller Activation Test, fans can use the app to access some cool features related to adaptive triggers. Among the many options, the player can test the weapon’s vibration, response, and response. These features go deeper as they allow the player to adjust settings such as Starting Position and Amplitude. In addition to these features, the app’s user interface allows the user to check the battery life and change the light color on the controller.
According to the app’s creator, Rihab Mehboob, the impetus to develop the app came from the lack of games that use adaptive triggering. Furthermore, they note that even titles that use this option cannot offer players the chance to customize the settings. Therefore, the developer wanted to create an application that would allow players to experiment with different effects of adaptive trigger technology.
To use the app, players must connect PS5 DualSense controller to their mobile device. Also, it’s worth noting that this new app is not free. However, the barrier to entry is relatively low as it only costs $1.99 to download. Currently, the app is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad using iOS/iPad 14.5 operating system or later. Also, it has Mac support, but the system must include Apple’s proprietary M1 chip. Unfortunately, the app isn’t available on Android devices, but the developer says they might bring it to the platform in the future.
It’s exciting to see developers come up with unique ways to enjoy the new features of the DualSense controller. With this new PS5 Controller Activation Test available for testing by consumers, it will be interesting to see if PlayStation develops its own app for the controller in the future.
