New Horizons Player Create Real Life DIY Bottles

One Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are taking DIY crafting to the next level by crafting a real-life message in a bottle with a DIY recipe inside.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons added some new customization options and features to the series, but one of the most famous is possibly the DIY craftsman. Players can explore homemade recipes scattered across the island and dig into content, which opens up more crafting options. One Animal Crossing: New Horizons players brought this DIY crafting approach to the real world by creating a real-life DIY card, complete with the bottle it floats on.

Every day, a message in a bottle will wash up on the shores of the island, containing a letter and a DIY recipe. If the player doesn’t pick up the bottle, two can spawn the next day. Homemade recipes can also be obtained in a variety of ways, including as gifts from villagers or purchased from Nook’s Cranny.

Reddit user Bubbiboo shared images of their attempt at recreating one of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘Do it yourself card’, still in a bottle. The bottle is a small, round glass structure plugged with a thick cork, like those in the game that can be washed on the beach. Inside, a detailed rendering of the DIY card can be seen. The first photo shows the back of the card, complete with the iconic chrysanthemum design, while the second shows the actual DIY recipe.

The DIY card that Bubbiboo chose for this project is for the Star Wand, one of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘many tools’. Star Wand allows players to access their saved outfits and in-game recipes that can be obtained from the Celeste owl villagers. Crafting this item in game requires one Big Star shard and three Star shards, the real life version also faithfully shows. According to Bubbiboo, they had to fold the card in half like a sausage in order to put it in the bottle. Luckily, the card doesn’t show any wrinkles or creases in the photos, although it does curve slightly.

As of writing, it seems other fans have been impressed by Bubbiboo’s creativity. Most of the users who responded commented on how cute it was created. Some users in particular said the bottle was so adorable, some even asked where Bubbiboo had found it. Apparently, Bubbiboo tracked down the bottle at Hobby Lobby, so is different Mule fan looking to create their own DIY recipe message in a bottle, knowing where to start looking.
