When Turkey Day Happens Animal Crossing: New Horizons, many people picked up the game thanks to the big Version 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise DLC will celebrate with Franklin. This year’s celebration is more unique after Version 2.0, adding cooking as a new fork of New horizons‘Do-it-yourself crafting system. Franklin now provides the player with all the recipes they helped him prepare for Turkey Day, and they can continue to supply him with ingredients to make even more dishes.
It’s great that in-game vacations get more attention, and cooking is a fitting tool for real-life vacations where big meals are gathered with loved ones. However, Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘Cooking isn’t as delicious as it could be. While the extra content is great, Nintendo still leaves plenty of potential to make cooking a more worthwhile activity for players to learn.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons ‘DIY Cooking
Animal Crossing: New Horizons stands out from previous entries in the series for taking customizability to the next level. Players can decorate their houses, create their own costumes and even terraforming the appearance of their islands. Crafting is an important aspect of this customization, as recipes can be discovered to create various pieces of furniture and more using materials like stones and branches.
Cooking is just an addition to the game with Version 2.0 and Happy Home Paradise, with the DLC offering some exclusive techniques such as building walls and polishing items. Make cooking one of the universal additions with New horizons‘The free update is a smart move as it provides more of a purpose for the activities that have been in the game since the beginning – namely fishing and fruiting. Between those and new ingredients like potatoes and tomatoes, there are plenty of options for savory and sweet dishes.
All of that has been woven into Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ Thanksgiving So does the celebration, with Franklin claiming everything from pumpkins and potatoes to fish and even mushrooms that the player can explore around their islands throughout November, though. nice to see villagers celebrating around a party, but it would be nice if the material rewards were a bit more.
Animal Crossing: How New Horizons ‘Cooking Can Improve
Because of all the effort that goes in collect recipes and ingredients for cookingThe food is not very special. There are many varieties of them and most of the food looks delicious, so it is perfect for players who have a restaurant on their island and want to decorate their meals beautifully. But if someone wants to eat one of those meals, the only perk they grant is a few extra “powers” that allow the character to pocket plants and destroy rocks.
This power is something that players can get easily by eat ingredients like fruit. While individual pieces of fruit are less efficient than cooking with fruit themselves, it is more important to temper that power unless someone is working on a major renovation project. It can even be considered a damage if the player forgets to consume their surcharge and accidentally breaks a rock when they intend to collect more iron ore.
Nintendo could have made a more interesting and useful cooking system if it had learned from one of its own successes: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Only one Powerful cooking system in Breath of the Wild, allows Link to gather ingredients throughout Hyrule and craft various meals that include support measures like stamina regeneration, increased attack, or even extreme weather resistance. Mule not the kind of game that comes close to the fighting and RPG elements to consider, but it can carry this spirit.
Some basic self-cooking methods in New horizons can still be an abundant source of energy. However, it also makes sense for sweeter, more sugary treats to offer benefits like faster running speed for a given time. Large savory meals can also make the player more efficient in certain tasks like chopping down trees in one go. There are so many relevant quality of life benefits that meals can unfold, from Dive longer in the ocean to build friendships faster. For now, though, it’s a really basic operation on a mechanic with a lot of gaming potential.
