New Covid variant puts pressure on OPEC oil producers

The arrival of a new strain of cod will make it even more likely that producers will stop adding barrels in January. But this decision is being complicated by the coordinated release of emergency stockpiles by several countries. Supply is likely to be more than 70 million barrels of crude and refined products from stocks in the US, India, Japan, UK, South Korea and China. It remains unclear how many of them the industry will actually use.
