Arguably the most notorious movie with a post-pandemic release date is Death on the Nile. This mystery drama, the second of Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie adaptation, in which he plays Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, not only has its schedule disrupted due to COVID-related delays but even went through a studio change – from Fox to Disney – and unfortunately when its leader got caught up in a serious scandal.

We wouldn’t have expected this to be able to see the light of day, but – although you might not believe it – it’s really close here. Death in the Nile will open in US cinemas this weekend, and ahead of the upcoming film, a new trailer has been announced. Featuring brief shots of the all-star cast, including Gal Gadot, Letitia Wright and Emma Mackey, the ad promises that “the greatest mystery of all time can only be solved in theaters.”

After Armie Hammer’s demise, Disney had trouble marketing Death on the Nilebut the tactics they took minimized agent exposure in marketing. This teaser, for example, matches that, with Gadot receiving the bulk of the screentime and Hammer being only glimpsed in the final group shot. The cast also includes Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Sophie Okonedo and Rose Leslie.

All together, Death on the Nile has been attached to the total six the release date spans three years, spanning from Christmas 2019 to the present. After so many delays, it remains to be seen whether audiences are still interested enough to see this film on the mass big screen. The first reviews so far have been solid if insignificantUnfortunately.

If you can believe it, Death on the Nile hits theaters in just four days on February 11.
