The life of a Witcher is hard work, but there’s still plenty of time for entertainment, at least according to Vesemir in the trailer for the new Netflix animated series, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Along with the trailer, Netflix has also revealed the voice cast for Studio Mir’s upcoming anime.
Wolf’s Nightmare will follow the adventures of young Vesemir, and take place several years before his adventures with Geralt that fans are already familiar with. Despite the time difference, the locations of the world’s monster hunters didn’t seem so different. Most people hate and fear them, but Vesemir’s only interest in the world is hunting monsters and the coins he gets paid for doing it – the Witcher way.
While this trailer shows us quite a bit of Vesemir’s early battles, we know from Netflix’s description of the film (and its title) to expect a particularly acrimonious clash with the villain. wolf in the center of the movie. Along with that battle, we’ll probably also get more behind-the-scenes stories about Geralt’s mentor – and some of his contemporaries – before we see him again, older and grayer , in The Witcher season 2.
Vesemir will be voiced in Wolf’s Nightmare by Theo James from Castlevaniaand who played Young Vesemir in The Witcherof the first season. The show will also feature Lara Pulver (Sherlock) as Tetra, Graham McTavish (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) as Deglan and Mary McDonnell (Battlestar Galactica) as Lady Zerbst.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf slated to premiere on August 28, 2021. But that’s not the only Witcher series Netflix has on the horizon. The Witcher Part 2 will be out on December 17th, while The Witcher: Blood Origin, a live-action prequel series, is slated to hit the streaming service sometime in 2022 or 2023.
