Netflix’s Money Heist Gets A Spinoff Series About A Popular Character
The popular Berlin character from Netflix’s Money Heist is getting his own spin-off series, showing on the streaming service in 2023.
Netflix‘NS Money Heist, aka La Casa De Papel, is one of the most popular series of streamers since its debut. As the cast got ready to part ways with the show, Netflix delivered some good news for fans during an event held in Madrid on Tuesday. A spin-off series titled Berlin has been announced for a fan-favorite character with the same name in the series, played by Pedro Alonso.
Events by Netflix in Madrid more than 5,000 people attended fan Money Heistand the entire cast of the series were present for a Q&A session. It has been revealed that the universe of thieves introduced in the popular Spanish TV series will be continued in Berlin, which is set to launch on the streaming player in 2023.
The news has also been posted by Netflix on its official Twitter account, however details about the spinoff series have yet to be revealed. At this point, it is only known that Alonso will return to reprise his role as the back of the crowd. However, whether the story will be a sequel or a prequel remains unclear at this point.
It will be interesting to see how Netflix will run an entire series around one character. While Berlin is one of the most popular names in the series, and certainly one of the most interesting, he’s also pretty obnoxious. Viewers find many reasons to be upset with his actions, but it seems they can’t get enough of him, like Netflix spinoff news was warmly welcomed.
The news comes at the right time, like Money Heist ending soon. The final season of the fifth season of the series will premiere on December 3, and fans have been waiting to see how the story will end. This series is one of the most requested shows worldwide. Although it was originally filmed in Spanish, it has been dubbed in several languages and also has the option of subtitles.
At one point, Money Heist is the most watched non-English series on Netflix, formerly Squid fishing game took over that title. The two series now also have something in common. The streamer is working on a Korean adaptation of Money Heist and Squid fishing game star Park Hae-soo, who played Cho Sang-woo in the Korean fantasy film, has been cast as Berlin.
Berlin will premiere on Netflix in 2023.
