Netflix Is Developing ‘Thanksgiving Text’ Based on Viral Story of Grandma Who Accidentally Invites Strangers Out to Dinner

Every Diversity, a streamer has summed up one of the most moving stories online: that of a young man who was accidentally invited to dinner by a woman who called himself his “grandmother”. Thanksgiving Text will turn an interesting story in real life into a new movie that is sure to create good cheer for everyone.

Six years ago, a woman in Arizona invited a stranger to dinner by mistake. Although she could have ended the text there, Wanda Dench decided that her house was open to everyone. While she was about to text her grandson to check if he was coming to the Turkey Day celebrations, she ended up texting Jamal Hinton, a senior in high school. Dench did not decline the invitation after she realized her mistake, and Hinton accepted.

He has attended her party every year since the original incident, which quickly went viral on social media, becoming part of his own family. And now, Netflix will turn their sweet story into an eye-catching movie for families across the country to enjoy.

In their original exchange, Hinton received a text from an unknown number inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner. After he asked who it was, Dench replied, “Your grandma,” also adding a selfie.

Hinton replied, “You’re not my grandma,” and joked, “Can I still get a plate of tho?”

Dench replied, “Of course you can. That’s what grandma does… Feed everyone. ”

“We are excited to share our story with the world. We hope it will inspire more people to reach out and make connections they wouldn’t normally make,” Dench and Hinton said in a joint statement. “We are so lucky to have found a true friendship that God put together from a mistaken text message.”

Producers include Robert Teitel and George Tillman, Jr. for State Street Pictures. Lawrence Mott will serve as executive producer.
