Netflix Gaming Expansion Plans Officially Confirmed

Next recent report, streaming giant Netflix has officially confirmed its plans to expand into the gaming sector.

In a letter to shareholders dated July 20, Netflix said that the expansion is still in the early stages. Games will be included in members’ subscriptions at no additional cost, and the initiative will start with mobile games.

Part of the letter reads:

We’re also in the early stages of expanding into games, building on our previous efforts at interactivity (e.g. Black Mirror Bandersnatch) and our Stranger Things games. We see games as another new genre of content for us, similar to our expansion into original movies, animation and zero-description television. Games will be included in the member’s Netflix subscription at no additional cost similar to movies and series. Initially, we will mainly focus on mobile games. We’re excited about offering movies and TV series, and we expect a long way to increase investment and growth across all of our existing content categories, but because we After nearly a decade of promoting the original show, we thought the time was right to learn more about how our members rate the game.

The wording of the letter suggests Netflix plans to go beyond mobile gaming, which is in line with reports that the company is in talks with Sony. The data checker found an image of the DualSense controller and Ghost of Tsushima in Netflix’s iOS app files. However, it looks like it will be a while before we hear anything.

We will update our readers as we have more information.
