Naughty Dog is developing a standalone multiplayer experience, and this could be the expected multiplayer experience based on The Last of Us Part 2. Currently, it looks like they are planning a suitable in-game monetization system for the project.
Since debut The Last of Us Part 2, Naughty Dog has been pretty tight-lipped about the studio’s future projects, and even the previously promised multiplayer mode for their latest hit.
Back in 2020, in an attempt to avoid further delays for the launch The Last of Us Part 2, the development team decided to remove the multiplayer at launch and delay it to a later date as a post-launch content for the game.

Today, more than a year after the game’s launch, we don’t even have a clear vision of the post-launch content for The Last of Us Part 2 except for some unofficial footage and clips that shed light on the upcoming multiplayer mode for the title.
That being said, a new job listing on Naughty Dog’s website could hint at the impending announcement. Our last face as a multiplayer expansion for last year’s hit as the developer was looking for an opportunity to design an in-game monetization system for the project.

Naughty Dog is hiring an economics designer for in-game monetization schemes
As Work list Hint, this open position is related to “The studio’s first indie multiplayer game!“It’s a bell, isn’t it? While we know that Naughty Dog is currently working on a brand new IP as well as an unannounced project, the above definition is great for Our last face than any other project.
The role listed will be responsible for designing a player-friendly economy that increases “in-game revenue and long-term value while respecting the player experience.”
It is yet to be seen whether Face will be a free-to-play experience like Halo Infinitemultiplayer, or will be available as a paid product for less than the base game. That being said, looking for in-game monetization could be a hint that developers may be pursuing a free-to-play approach.
The Last of Us Part 2 Now available on PS4 and PS5. The game didn’t receive the Director’s Cut Edition on PS5 similar to other exclusive projects in the series, but with the impending announcement of a multiplayer expansion, there could be a pack in the future.
