Myanmar court sentences Aung San Suu Kyi to 4 years in prison

The closed-door trial in the capital, Naypyidaw, underscored the punitive treatment the ruling government is giving to Ms. Suu Kyi, who was previously under military house arrest for nearly two decades. After her release in 2010, she led her party to consecutive victories in semi-democratic elections in 2015. and in 2020, before the army took power in February, once again arrested Ms. Suu Kyi.
