Mortal Shell PS Plus Edition does not include free PS5 upgrade
It has been confirmed that the PlayStation Plus release of Mortal Shell does not include an upgrade to the original PS5 version of the game.
Every month, PlayStation Plus Subscribers get to see a bunch of new free-to-claim games on PS4 and PS5. Generally, PS4 and PS5 games are kept separate, but sometimes when a game is available on both systems, subscribers can access both versions. This way PS5 users can play the best version of the game available, while the ones on PS4 are not scrapped. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for either of these PlayStation Plus game for December 2021.
NS Free PS Plus games for December 2021 consists of Godfall: Challenger Edition, LEGO DC Super Villain, and Shell of death. Shell of death saw the release of a Special Enhanced Edition on PS5 earlier this year, and so some PS Plus subscribers thought they’d be able to play that version of the game on their new console. Unfortunately, it was made clear that Shell of death on PS Plus is only the PS4 version.
This has been confirmed by the official Shell of death Twitter account. Although PS5 gamers will not be able to play Mortal Shell: Advanced Edition on their next-gen console, they can still play the PS4 version thanks to backwards compatibility. However, PS5 PS Plus users are understandably unhappy about the situation, and it has added fuel to the fire that was the PS Plus backlash in December 2021.
PS Plus version of Shell of death Not offering a free PS5 upgrade isn’t the only controversy that the December 2021 free PS Plus games have suffered. There is also a lot of criticism aimed at Godfall: Challenger Edition, as it’s not really the full version of the hack-and-slash game. Opposite, Godfall: Challenger Edition Does not include any base game story content or Fire & Darkness expansion. Instead, it maxed out players and brought them directly into the final game content, which led to a lot of PS Plus subscribers complaining about being repositioned.
While the free PS Plus games for December 2021 have suffered some backlash, overall 2021 is still a pretty good year for the service. Meanwhile, there were rumors that PS Plus can be combined with PlayStation Now so that Sony can better compete with the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen, but for now, fans can continue to look forward to their monthly free PS Plus games as usual.
