Miss Manners: When speaking to a group, options include for 'ladies and gentlemen'

A few years ago, they started putting in a political passage, which I found inappropriate. I’m sure their political polemics against ours didn’t help either, but it never seemed to affect our neighborly relationship. I don’t think a Christmas newsletter is the place to push a political agenda.
