Miss Manners: How to respond when being thanked for helping someone else
When we visited my family recently, a few family members gave us gifts and expressed hope that there would be a welcome to attend in the not too distant future. Since we were so far away from planning the reception, we felt uncertain about how to respond. I think I said something like, “Oh, thank you – hopefully!”
