The hugely popular game Minecraft is now adding a virtual recreation of Walt Disney World, which includes more than 20 games and cube attractions.
Minecraft continues to be one of the most popular games in the world and now it has been partnered with one of the biggest brands in the world. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, Minecraft will bring elements of the happiest place on Earth to what may be the hardest place in the digital realm.
Disney is famous for its crossovers, especially now that it owns franchises like Marvel, Deadpool series and Star Wars on top of their own creations. Minecrafton the other hand, is better known for the elaborate fan-made tributes that their players often build in tribute to other franchises. However, this is the first time Minecraft introduced a crossover with another brand, let alone a big one like Disney.
Notice of Minecraft x Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Adventure DLC has been done via verification Minecraft The Twitter account shared a short trailer and a linked post. Interestingly, instead of intersecting with one of Disney’s many movie franchises, the event seems to focus on Disney World itself and its iconic games. The trailer shows the block Minecraft character wandering through Minecraft reenactments of the Magic Kingdom and some of the famous sites found there, including the Space Mountain, the Jungle Cruise, and the Haunted Mansion.
In the introduction, Minecraft characters explore virtual versions of amusement parks, ride horses, and interact with blocks Minecraft versions of Disney and Pixar characters. This is not the first time Minecraft added movie characters into the game, but this may be one of the first times they’ve been specifically set up as NPCs instead of skins or outfits.
Of course, players will also be able to customize their look with Disney-themed skins that allow them to look like characters from the franchise. Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, the Seven Dwarfs, and even the ghosts of the Haunted Mansion. There will also be beautiful digital fireworks for players to enjoy from Main Street.
It seems some fans are excited about where this partnership could lead. Official Minecraft R3D’s Kingdom Market Partner who helped Recreate the Magic Kingdom in Minecraft, said it was an honor to help work in the virtual park. Another user asked if the DLC includes the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge region, which likely won’t. However, a third user theorized that a future Disney partnership could feature more Disney parks and more rides.
