Minecraft 1.18: Where to find diamonds

Players on the hunt for diamonds in Minecraft’s 1.18 update should target Y levels detailed in this short guide.

MinecraftUpdate 1.18 of this update makes some major changes to mining, forcing players to modify their established ore-gathering strategies. Indeed, ore distribution has been completely revamped with this update, and fans will need to target some new locations if they hope to find the resources they need. One of the minerals Minecraft Players will be particularly interested in keeping track of the diamonds, and this guide details the best levels to find them.

Minecraft 1.18: Best Diamond Level

Simply put, the players who were hunting for diamonds in Minecraft 1.18 should target Y-level -58. For the uninitiated, a fan’s current Y level can be checked by pressing F3 or typing “/tp ~ ~ ~” into the chat window, and it really takes quite a bit of digging to get to -58. It is recommended that players doing this type of digging make holes two blocks wide, as that will reduce their chances of falling to their deaths.

It should be noted, Y-level -58 is definitely not the only place where diamonds spawn in MinecraftCaves and Cliffs Update, as the player can encounter this mineral anywhere from Y-level 16 to -64. However, the spawn rate of diamonds increases quite a bit at deeper levels, and so players shouldn’t waste time looking for resources closer to the surface. Players should also avoid searching for diamonds between Y levels -59 and -64, as the background layer spawned at those levels affects the diamond spawn rate.

It’s also worth reiterating that the 1.8 update reduces the chance of ores appearing in a block exposed to air. This means that Minecraft player Don’t expect to see a lot of diamonds while they’re exploring caves that spawn in lower Y levels. Indeed, fans will need to take a more proactive approach to finding these precious minerals, with extraction being the most effective strategy.

While there are a number of different approaches to slicing that fans can use, the simplest is to dig up passages two blocks high in a straight line. This method makes it easy to get out of the mine when miners want to rest and it only requires some food and is reasonable hoe in Minecraft. Fans can also bring some torches if they want to light up the tracks they form while hunting for diamonds, though they’re optional.
