Crime drama Midsomer Murders celebrates 25 years of baffling the nation.

Set in the fictional town of Midsomer, which is plagued by numerous murders, the show has entertained us since 1997.

To celebrate the show’s prestigious 25th anniversary, ITV and ITV Hub are releasing a behind-the-scenes documentary.

Fans can expect to see key stars from the past 25 years, including Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, played by John Nettles, who retired from the show in 2011, and the current lead, who took his place, Neil Dudgeon.

The special will also star celebrity actors Orlando Bloom and Henry Cavill, who had roles in the crime drama before it made it big.

When can I watch the Midsomer Murders 25th Anniversary Special?

The special anniversary episode can be watched on May 29 between 7pm and 8pm on ITV One.

What is the plot of the anniversary special?

Midsomer Murders is known for its quirky characters and mysterious plots.

There is also a humorous side to the sometimes dark storylines and it is these impressive dialogues that have made it an international hit, having aired in 200 countries.

This 25th anniversary documentary follows the beginnings of the crime drama and goes back to the beginning of how the series came to life.

Based on the books of Chief Inspector Barnaby by Caroline Graham, it begins with a reflection on the first episode, The Killings at Badger’s Drift.

The documentary will feature a variety of cast members from past to present and will also feature some famous faces who starred in the iconic show before it made it big.

ITV has revealed the episode will also take viewers on a journey: “A midsomer bus tour that looks back at some of the iconic locations from the series and pays homage to the beautiful but equally deadly English countryside that has played such a big part in the success of the series played series.”
