Midnight Fight Express gets brutal new fight trailer

The stylized brawler Midnight Fight Express gives fans a closer look at combat, leveling and more in a trailer ahead of its upcoming release.

Created by a former destiny 2 Author and former stunt performer for 2018 God of War, Midnight Fight Express promises a brutal, fast-paced combat experience with lots of hand-to-hand combat. The game was originally unveiled at Gamescom 2021 and is now gearing up for release a year later. From its initial presentation and the footage shown since then, some have compared it Midnight Fight Express to hotline Miamibut a new trailer makes it clear that the two games do have their differences.

The similarities between Midnight Fight Express and Hotline Miami are plain to see for fans of the latter, especially given the top-down perspective of Midnight Fight Express and the newer game’s use of unique masks in its customization. However, as shown in its new three-minute trailer, Midnight Fight Express has a much deeper combat system than Hotline Miamiwhich only allowed for simple combat, ending with either the masked protagonist killing an enemy with one punch or the player frantically pressing the reset button to try again.

Midnight Fight Express promises more detailed combat, with battles that look more alike Sifu than it does Hotline Miami, with combo attacks that make the player look like they’re in a Jason Statham-style action movie and fight multiple enemies at once. These fights can be improved with the skills in Midnight Fight Express, which unlocks new moves and improves the playable character. Without upgrades, there are still some interesting mechanics such as: B. the ability to counter an opponent, similar to the moves in the Batman: Arkham games.

There’s also the focus mechanic, which allows players to slow down time to decide which enemy to pursue next. Similar mechanics were seen in Red Dead Redemption 2 Deadeye and other titles, but just because something has been used before doesn’t mean it won’t have great success Midnight Fight Express. While the upcoming game has drawn many comparisons to other titles since it was first announced, it’s also clear that it uses the combination of similar mechanics and options to create a unique brawler.

It appears that Midnight Fight Express can revel in these comparisons and has even referenced other video games in its promotional material. When the reveal trailer was first released in 2021, Midnight Fight Express contained a reference to Call of Duty infamous No Russian Mission. It’s likely that the game will be full of other references at launch, as well as some close and exciting battles.

Midnight Fight Express will be released on August 23 for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.
