Microsoft confirms two new issues with Windows 11, including a BSOD issue

Microsoft has confirmed two new issues with Windows 11 that are currently unresolved.

One is with Microsoft Installer Problems with Updated or Repaired Apps.

Microsoft reports that after installing updates KB5007215 or later, Microsoft Installer (MSI) may experience problems repairing or updating applications. Applications known to be affected include some from Kaspersky. Affected apps may not open after an update or repair attempt.

Microsoft is working on a workaround and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

To mitigate this issue, users will need to uninstall the affected app and then install the latest version of the app.

The other is compatibility issues with Intel Smart Audio Technology drivers and Windows 11, which leads to a BSOD.

Intel and Microsoft have discovered an incompatibility issue with some driver versions for Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) and Windows 11. Windows 11 devices with the affected Intel SST driver You may get a blue screen error. The affected driver will be named Intel® Smart Audio Technology (Intel® SST) Audio Controller under System Devices in Device Manager and has the file name IntcAudioBus.sys and file version as IntcAudioBus.sys. 10.29.0.5152 or earlier or 10.30.0.5152 or earlier.

Microsoft says this is an external issue, and to protect the upgrade experience, it has implemented a compatibility preservation measure on devices with affected Intel SST drivers that are not supplied with Windows 11.

To minimize protections, users will need to check with their device manufacturer (OEM) to see if an updated driver is available and install it. This issue is resolved by updating the Intel® Smart Audio Technology driver to version 10.30.00.5714 or later or 10.29.00.5714 or later. After updating to a compatible version of the Intel® Smart Audio Technology driver, you can upgrade to Windows 11.

Microsoft recommends that users do not attempt to upgrade manually using the Update Now button or the Media Creation Tool until this issue has been resolved and the protection removed.
