Microsoft CEO sells half of his shares in the company

Microsoft Corporation CEO Satya Nadella sold about half of his stake in the company last week, according to a federal securities filing.

In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last week, the Redmond, Wash-based software company. reported that Nadella sold 838,584 shares in two days, down from nearly 1.7 million shares.

The transaction brought in more than $285 million for Mr. Nadella. This is the largest stock sale for Nadella, according to InsiderScore.

“Satya sold approximately 840,000 shares of his Microsoft stock holdings for reasons of personal financial planning and diversification,” said a Microsoft spokesperson. “He is committed to the continued success of the company, and his holdings significantly exceed the holding requirements set forth by the Microsoft Board of Directors.”
