DENVER (AP) – Colorado state officers are investigating a county election workplace after passwords for its voting methods had been posted on-line. Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold says the breach included particular passwords from Mesa County’s voting tools.
Griswold known as it a “a severe breach” in a press release Monday. Griswold says it didn’t occur through the previous election or create any threat to state elections.
It’s probably the passwords had been collected throughout throughout software program updates to voting tools in Mesa County on Might 25, 2021.
If violations are discovered through the investigation, it may result in a decertification of the county’s voting machines.
