Megan Rice, who crusaded against nuclear weapons, dies at 91

Megan Gillespie Rice — her first title was pronounced “Mee-gan” — was born in New York Metropolis on Jan. 31, 1930. She was raised in Morningside Heights, close to Columbia College, in a liberal Catholic atmosphere attuned to poverty and human rights. Her dad and mom, an obstetrician and a historian, have been mates and followers of Dorothy Day and the Catholic Employee motion, which opposed the drumbeat of warfare even after the Japanese assault on Pearl Harbor.
