McDonald sexual misconduct allegation was not deemed ‘unfounded,’ military confirms – National

The allegation of sexual misconduct made in opposition to Adm. Art McDonald has not been deemed unfounded, in response to navy officers.

In response to questions from International Information, the Canadian Forces Provost Marshal provided what seems to be essentially the most direct rebuttal but of McDonald’s repeated public claims that he has been exonerated by advantage of no cost being laid in opposition to him.

“As said in August 2021, the CFNIS investigation into an allegation of sexual misconduct in opposition to Admiral McDonald resulted in no expenses being laid based mostly on inadequate proof,” reads the assertion.

“This doesn’t imply that the allegation was unfounded, which is outlined by Statistics Canada as ‘After a police investigation it’s concluded that no violation of the regulation passed off nor was tried’.”

Navy police had opened an investigation into McDonald in late February.

McDonald stepped again voluntarily from his function as chief of the defence workers on the time.

He has denied the allegations in opposition to him and, following the choice by navy police that there was not sufficient proof to cost him this summer season, has been waging an more and more public battle, arguing the shortage of a cost means he needs to be “instantly” reinstated to the function.
