A Texas woman has attracted a lot of attention on social media after explaining that she is not in fact the mayor of the state. ReginaHer name is Regina Mayor.

The confusion started after a Twitter user tagged the Mayor in post for the mayor Sandra Master.

“I am not the Mayor. This is my name,” the Mayor said simply.

Her tweet has since garnered more than 430 retweets and 4,140 likes.

The mayor added in the tweet thread that this is not the first time this has happened.

“There was a series of (tweets) about street racing once that I completely did not understand! And the usual disparagement of the city’s inefficiencies. What’s going on up there? ”

Global News connected the Masters and the Mayor on a Zoom call this week to talk about the misunderstanding.

The mayor, KPMG’s Global Director of Energy in Houston, said she was still confused when her simple reply on Twitter got the response it did.

“It’s happened quite a bit in the past and I try to be fairly fact-based and transparent if someone takes the time to try to contact the Master Mayor… I need them to know it’s not me, ‘ said the mayor.

“My 22-year-old millennial daughter told me using punctuation and the way I do it as a tweet is ‘hysterical’ for millennials. I touched a nerve without knowing that I could be funny.”

Masters, who doesn’t have a Twitter account, said she received screenshots of tweets from many people and found it “hilarious”, which went viral when her son in Toronto saw it. .

The mayor went to Canada but was only close to Regina while she was in Calgary.

“Mayor Master has kindly extended the invitation and I promise I plan to include her,” the Mayor said.

Masters even took the opportunity to convince the Mayor about canola crushing projects.

Mayor hopes this won’t be the last time she’s mistaken for the mayor.

“She’s such a great sport that we’ve shipped ‘I love Regina’ packages from our city to you,” Masters told the Mayor on the call.

As for the Mayor’s pending trip to the Queen’s City, it looks like it will come in the summer when temperatures are comparable to those much more southerly.
