This historic Friday night session, which marks the first F1 Sprint race on Saturday as opposed to the British Grand Prix itself, saw drivers give everything for the P1 only on soft tires – according to the provisions of this experimental weekend.
Mercedes could have taken nine of the last nine positions on the road, but Verstappen threw the first shot for Red Bull and put Q1 ahead of Hamilton by 0.035s. But Hamilton returned to Q2, its time there about half a second faster than Verstappen’s. This caused 90,000 people to get sunburned in the evening sun for Q3.
And in the final segment, Hamilton went faster with his first attempt – 1m26.134s – for a temporary P1. Can Verstappen answer this time? In his final round, Hamilton put up two purple sections, but couldn’t improve with an oversteer in Vale. But the Netherlands was slower in section 2 and the third section was not good enough; the crowd went wild as he lost P1 with 0.075 seconds in front of the flag and took Hamilton in first place.

As part of an updated experimental format over the weekend, FP1 had the only one-hour session before being selected at Silverstone, the result of which will set the F1 Sprint launch network after Saturday afternoon. As a result, the teams did not waste any time and had about 20 minutes left before mixing the medium and hard tires before moving on to the tires.
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are facing another challenge this week at the UK GP. With the introduction of the F1 sprint (Sprint qualification), the weekend of Formula 1 is expected to witness several changes this week in Silverstone. The goal is to enrich the Grand Prix experience for racing fans and TV / Online viewers.
What is F1 Sprint? This is a race that runs for 100 km (in the case of Silverstone 17 laps), which lasts up to 30 minutes. The changes that are being developed are similar to the T20 cricket game. The three best drivers will be awarded with scores of 3, 2 and 1. The podium ceremony will be replaced with a special post-sprint presentation for the top 3 drivers. The order of the finish determines the network for the final race on Sunday.

The session will be held at the end of the day so that the working people can watch the action LIVE. Among the main features, only soft tires are allowed. Drivers can start on Sunday without the need for wheels, as they did in Qualification 2.

There will be only two practical sessions, each lasting 1 hour. The first race will be held on Friday afternoon. Cars will enter FP1 before FP2, which is held on Saturday morning. They will return to Park Farm before the F1 race, where they will be in a quarantine environment before Sunday’s race.
NOTE: In wet weather, teams will receive additional wheels, but they will have to return the used set before the F1 sprint.

How does Parc Ferme work?
According to formula1.com, the Rules prohibit changing key components at Parc Ferme so that groups don’t move to create ‘specialized machines’ and at the same time limit the number of hours to prepare the machine for the next day.
There will be three F1 races running this year, starting with Silverstone.
“I’m not sure this format will succeed in Monaco.” says Ross Brawn, director of F1, Motorsports, quoted by formula1.com.
“We anticipate that these weekends are Grand Slam events that are spreading during the season, so that’s something else. I don’t think it will last all season, I think it will be a limited number of races, but it needs to be resolved. ” he added.
