MATUMBAMAN says this is his last year as a competitive Dota 2 player

MATUMBAMAN talks about leaving Team Secret and plans to retire next year

MATUMBAMAN finished TI10 in third place at the end of his two years with Team Secret. Team Secret was a strong contender and put on some stellar performances throughout the event, but ultimately fell to TI10 champion, Team Spirit, in the bottom bracket final.

After being eliminated, MATUMBAMAN informed his teammates at Team Secret that he might consider retiring. After returning home, he changed his mind and decided to play for another year. However, at that moment MATUMBAMAN also realized that he no longer felt like a part of Team Secret.

“After our loss at TI10, I told the team that I was thinking about retiring. But after going home and thinking about it with a calm head, I came to the conclusion that there was still another year left in me. During that time, my old teammates [at Team Secret] quite stressed about the situation because of my uncertainty. After a while, it doesn’t feel [like] I was already a part of Team Secret and that doesn’t work for me anymore.” MATUMBAMAN explained his decision to leave Team Secret.

In addition, the Finnish tennis player admitted that the time of elimination was difficult, but he gradually appreciated the third place after a while. However, when he takes into account that he won TI in 2017 with Team Liquid, third place is still disappointing for MATUMBAMAN.

With this being his final year as a Dota 2 player, MATUMBAMAN looks forward to lifting the Aegis of Champions championship once again with Team Liquid.
