Mateusz Gamrot taps Jeremy Stephens early with kimura

Mateusz Gamrot did something no one else had done in over a decade.

The Polish boxer handed Jeremy Stephens his first loss since 2009, forcing the veteran to knock him out in the first round of their lightweight clash. The bout takes place on the UFC main card on ESPN 26 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.

Gamrot (19-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) immediately started taking down as soon as the fight started. From there, he took Stephens out onto the field, controlled the side, locked the kimura and powered him up until he got the tap. Gamrot was the first man to knock out Stephens in his last 28 UFC fights.

Gamrot is currently on a two-fight winning streak since losing his UFC debut and suffered his first professional defeat to Guram Kutateladze in October 2020. Meanwhile, Stephens has lost a fight and a loss in six. UFC fight is over.
