Maryland Transportation Authority Administration is expected to approve final tolls for planned toll lanes on part of the Capital Beltway, I-270

The rate is the same as the panel last discussed in September and follows a months-long public response period in which about three out of four commenters thought the lanes would be too expensive and unfair. Priority is given to richer drivers. Under the approved toll range, motorists in heavy traffic will have to pay up to $18 and, in the event of unusual congestion, up to $45 for full use. 12-mile stretch of road between the Virginia side of the American Legion Bridge and I-370 in Rockville. Most tractors will pay up to $9 per mile and, in the worst of congestion, up to about $22 per mile.
