Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Saturday that a Democratic infrastructure bill that includes language and provisions would direct most taxpayer dollars to cities and states of color. blue regardless of demand elsewhere.
Meadows told Newsmax TV: “When we started looking at it, no one was against the roads and bridges that were working for them, but what they were against was Washington, DC. .
“The point is about those priorities: Most of the money that they’re talking about, will actually go to major metropolitan areas,” Meadows added.
“So viewers, if you’re not in Washington, DC., Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, or Chicago, you’re not going to see most of this money for five to six years,” he said.
And because the spending is so politically inclined, Meadows added: “I didn’t know it was done.”
“Some senators just said, ‘Well, we want to do that; That sounds good, but it’s really not going to hit the mark,” continued Meadows, a GOP lawmaker from North Carolina before joining Trump’s White House.
“So for me, it’s about making sure we have another priority and we’re not spending money on the Green New Deal or some kind of human infrastructure,” he said.
“We had a new definition for infrastructure that when I was a member of Congress, we never heard of it.”
In addition to the big cities, all run by Democrats, that prioritize infrastructure for big spending, middle-class Americans will be hit by inflation that will even act as a tax, he warned.
“The failed policy of the Biden administration has caused us to pay more at the grocery store, at the gas station, for anything we’re looking at,” Meadows said.
“You look at those inflation figures, it’s all because they’re printing money. And what do the Democrats want to do? They want to print more,” he told Newsmax TV.
“In the end you run out of other people’s money. We’re at that point, and it’s time to say enough is enough.”
The former lawmaker and Trump ally has also called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, accusing California Democrats of politicizing a committee to look into the origins of the Jan.
“She will continue to do that and suggest that it is in the best interest of the country for her to advance this political agenda,” Meadows said.
“It’s really not about seeking the truth. It’s about advancing a political agenda, and so you’ll see that continue,” he added.
“They will continue to have their hearings, but I also think you will see a different story,” he predicted.
That appeared to refer to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who announced this week that Republicans would launch their own investigation after it became clear to him that Pelosi was not interested in a legitimate bipartisan committee.
“We will conduct our own investigation,” the Republican leader said at a news conference. “We have law enforcement, we have the military, we have doctors, we have people from all walks of life.”
“Want to know the answer? The American people deserve it. They don’t deserve politics. They don’t deserve to destroy the organization,” he added.
A week ago, Meadows predicted that the infrastructure deal would fall apart.
