Marc Guehi speaks out after leaving Chelsea to complete the transfer of Crystal Palace

Marc Guehi is enjoying the prospect of playing at Selhurst Park under Patrick Vieira after competing for a move Crystal Palace from Chelsea.

Palace confirmed the 21-year-old will arrive on Sunday in a deal worth around £20m.

He became Vieira’s third signing for the club following the arrival of Michael Olise from Reading and goalkeeper Remi Matthews joining after Wayne Hennessey’s departure.

“He talked to me,” Guehi told Palace TV.

‘Honestly, I don’t think there’s too much to say. He talks about himself to the player he used to be, how he treats himself. Even recently as a manager he has a really good track record.

‘When he was in Nice, he did some really good work there. I am really excited to be working with him.

‘[I was] born in Ivory Coast, born in Abidjan, came here at one year old and lived in England all his life.

‘I mostly grew up in Lewisham, so I know the area. Obviously I’ve moved closer to where I am at Chelsea but I’m a London guy and know exactly what it’s like to be a London guy.

‘When you come from south London it’s really exciting. You know how they feel, what the fans talk about, and you have that real connection.

‘[Selhurst Park] It’s one of the Premier League stadiums with the best fan base, always playing there. A great atmosphere, so I hope to experience that one day. ‘
