Manitoba Tories to choose new PC leader by end of month – Winnipeg

The Manitoba legislature has wrapped up a quick fall sitting and is now on break whereas the governing Progressive Conservatives decide a brand new chief.


Politicians sat nicely into the night Thursday as payments have been handed to implement the spring finances.

The legislature usually resumes in mid-November however Deputy Premier Rochelle Squires says the timing can be as much as the following premier.

Heather Stefanson, a former well being minister, and Shelly Glover, a former Conservative member of Parliament, are working to exchange Brian Pallister, who retired final month.

The Tories will select their new chief on Oct. 30 by mail-in poll.

Squires says the brand new premier will even resolve the timing of a byelection in Pallister’s former seat, the Fort Whyte constituency in Winnipeg.
