Man with machete shot dead by police after allegedly stabbing multiple people: VPD – BC

Several people were taken to hospital Saturday night after a man allegedly attacked them with a machete, according to Vancouver Police Department investigators.

Police confronted the man with the machete in the area around Granville Street, which resulted in VPD officers firing shots.

According to police, there were four victims of the alleged machete attack; They remain hospitalized with “life-changing injuries.”

The suspect was also injured in the shooting and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“VPD officers were called by Vancouver Fire Rescue Services around 10 p.m. after a man set fire to his suite in an apartment building near Granville and Smithe streets,” Const said. said Tania Visintin.

“The man then attacked and stabbed four people inside the building. When officers arrived, they were confronted by the suspect, who was still armed with the gun.

“The police fired shots and the suspect was injured.”

The VPD’s Major Crime Units and BC’s Independent Investigative Bureau are now investigating.
