Man drowns in Peachlands Swim Bay

RCMP has confirmed a man drowned Monday after jumping into the water at Peachlands Swim Bay.

“The drowning occurred just after 2 p.m. while the victim was with family and friends,” Kelowna RCMP said in a press release.

“He jumped into the water and never came up again. (His) body was found by the lifeguard, who immediately began life-saving measures. EHS attended but unfortunately the man did not survive.”

Peachland Swim Bay is the only beach in the Okanagan manned by a lifeguard.

The BC Coroner Service has taken over the investigation.

RCMP provided victim services to family, friends and the lifeguard. Signs are up today Tuesday saying there is no lifeguard on duty.
