Man charged with arson, car theft in Saulnierville, NS – Halifax . area

A man has been charged after allegedly being involved in arson and “vehicle theft” in southern Nova Scotia.

The RCMP said that on February 9, just after 1 p.m., a man robbed a convenience store in Saulnierville, NS Store employees told police that the man then set fire to the store as well. .

According to the statement, the business on Saulnierville Street. was completely engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived.

No one was injured and the fire brigade was finally able to put out the fire.

Not long after in Easton, the RCMP said they were informed that a man had stolen a tractor and was still on the property.

The RCMP arrested a 35-year-old suspect and detained him overnight.

Scott Melbourne Hill from Weymouth was charged with robbery, arson, unlawful detention, making threats and two counts of motor vehicle theft.

Hill is prepared to stand trial. February 24th.
