Malcolm X Series will be executive produced by His Daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz, currently in development
A drama based on the life of a human rights activist Malcolm X is being performed at Sony Pictures Television’s TriStar. According to Variety, the series’ executive producer is Malcolm X’s 58 year old daughter Ilyasah Shabazz. The show will be based on the novels “X: A Novel” and “The Awakening of Malcolm X”, both by Ilyasah Shabazz. Jay Marcus with State Street Pictures will serve as executive producer on the project, with Ron Baldwin producing.
Ilyasah Shabazz has also written other books about her famous father such as “Growing Up X,” the children’s book “Malcolm Little: The Boy Who Grew Up to Become Malcolm X,” and “Betty Before X.”
Malcolm X’s life has been depicted on screen before by a famous American actor in the 1992 Spike Lee film “Malcolm X.”
Also, another remarkable performance was when Kingsley Ben-Adir played an activist in the 2020 Oscar-nominated film “One Night in Miami”.
