Luke Gale has been stripped of the Leeds Rhinos captaincy
Leeds Rhinos have taken the captaincy away from England scrum-half Luke Gale.
The 33-year-old former Castleford participant was ignored of coach Richard Agar’s crew for final Friday’s recreation towards Salford.
The Rhinos say he has been “stood down” as captain “for behaviours not aligned to crew emblems”.
In an announcement, Gale stated: “I want to apologise to everybody related to the membership for my behaviour, which fell under the requirements anticipated of our crew.
“I will probably be ensuring I give my best possible each day to assist the crew obtain our aim this season.”
Leeds say Gale, who’s in his second season at Headingley following his transfer from Castleford, will probably be obtainable for Thursday’s Tremendous League conflict at Hull FC and so they now see this matter closed.
Australian prop Matt Prior captained the crew in Gale’s absence towards the Purple Devils and led them to a 38-16 victory.
