Locals in Kharkiv Kill Russian soldiers by ‘treating’ them with poisoned food, Ukrainian officials report

As a show of hospitality, Ukrainian citizens in the besieged Kharkiv region are said to have “treated” local delicacies of the Russian army – laced with poison.

At least two soldiers from the 3rd Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian Federation died instantly after eating stuffed cakes made by the people of Izium, a town about 80 miles southeast of Kharkiv, the Main Intelligence Service said. Ukraine’s government said Saturday in a notice posted on Facebook. .

Another 28 Russians are being treated in intensive care for eating contaminated food. The status of these tainted invaders is yet to be confirmed.

According to the General Directorate of Intelligence, hundreds of Russian soldiers have also become seriously ill from drinking toxic alcohol while occupying the area. Ukrainian officials say that the Russian military is “wiping out these so-called ‘non-combat losses’.”

Although Russian troops are said to have retreated from the capital of Kyiv, New York Times reported that the rebel forces made no concessions in their attempt to capture Izium, despite the cooking efforts of the locals. The town, located along the eastern front near the Russian border, has been intensely targeted since the fighting began nearly six weeks ago. Control of the eastern city, about 70 miles from the Russian border, would allow the Russians to strategically coordinate with fighting forces further south in the Donbas region. This would then split the eastern front and isolate Ukraine’s southern forces from those fighting in the north.

The historic city of Kharkiv, located about 25 miles from the border, has endured some of the fiercest fighting since the war began, Times report. In the struggle for the strategic city, Russian forces are said to have resorted to destroying it.
